500 houses affected by flash flood in Zamboanga City

At least four houses were destroyed while 500 houses were affected in a flash flood that hit Zamboanga City Thursday afternoon.

The flood stemmed from heavy rain in Barangay Sangali, according to a report on GMA News' "Saksi."

No one was initially reported injured as residents were evacuated from the area, where floods were waist-deep.

A report by GMA News stringer Jayvee Francisco said the heavy rain occurred past 2 p.m.

It quoted barangay chairman Daud Bakil as saying four houses made of light materials collapsed due to the strong current of the water.

Earlier, the city government ordered the forced evacuation of residents. The affected residents were brought to the barangay hall.
