Carpenter arrested in Rizal for abusing 8-year-old son
Father's Day on June 15 won't be quite happy for a 48-year-old carpenter arrested in Rizal province Thursday for allegedly physically maltreating his eight-year-old son.
The Rizal provincial police said Friday the carpenter, whose name it withheld to protect his son's identity, also faces additional charges after firearms were found in his possession.
In a post on its Facebook page, the Rizal provincial police said its investigation showed the carpenter "even fired a gun beside the child."
But after the boy informed police the carpenter was in possession of firearms, police soon served a search warrant on his house issued by Judge Dennis Perez.
Found during the search were two .38 cal revolvers and .45 cal, .38 cal, .22 cal and 9mm ammunition.
The carpenter now faces charges of violating the Anti-Child Abuse Law and of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition. — Joel Locsin/JDS, GMA News
