Faulty runway lights ground night flights to and from Zamboanga City

There will be no night flights to and from Zamboanga City until the runway lights at the airport there are repaired.

 

"All night flights to and from Zamboanga starting today, Feb. 16, are cancelled due to grounded runway lights at Zamboanga International Airport," the city government announced on its Twitter account Sunday evening.
 

Airport authorities could not ascertain when the cancellation will be lifted, as repair work continues.

The city government said, however, that flights between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. will "continue regularly."
 

Zamboanga City is still recovering from the effects of a failed siege by followers of Moro National Liberation Front founding chairman Nur Misuari last September.
