38 families evacuated from Palawan due to flash floods

At least 38 families in Palawan were evacuated from their homes due to flash floods, the Philippine Coast Guard said Thursday afternoon.

Coast Guard spokesman Lt. Cmdr. Armand Balilo said the affected families were from Brookes Point, radio dzBB's Cecilia Villarosa reported.

The report did not indicate if there was anyone injured by the flash floods.

A separate report by the Philippine Red Cross on its Facebook page said flooded areas in Brookes Point included Barangays Pangobilian, Tubtub, Oring-Oring and Mainit.

"Water level is waist deep," it said.

It also said the entire town had no power, while signals for mobile phone communications were poor.

The Red Cross also said rescue groups could not get to Barangays Tubtub, Oring-Oring and Mainit because of fallen trees along the road. — RSJ, GMA News
