200 arrested for 'vices' in Davao City cemeteries on All Saints' Day
At least 200 people will spend the long Undas (All Saints' and All Souls' Days) weekend behind bars after they were caught smoking, drinking and gambling in Davao City's cemeteries Thursday. Police did not buy the claims of several violators that they were not aware of city ordinances barring such actions, radio dzBB's Davao affiliate Raul Tolibas reported Friday. Some of those arrested were also cited for blaring music from CD players, the report said. City police chief Senior Superintendent Ronald dela Rosa said the 200 may have to wait until at least Monday before they can get out of jail. He said the city bans smoking, drinking, gambling and loud noises in the city's cemeteries for Undas. Also he said, the police initially arrested three for smoking inside cemeteries, violating a strict no-smoking ordinance in the city. — LBG, GMA News
