Robin Padilla says he believes in Christian communism, Muslim Muakhat

Sen. Robin Padilla on Thursday explained the communism he believed in – Christian communism and the Muslim Muakhat – a day after telling a witness in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte that he was a communist.

On Facebook, Padilla said he no longer believed in the communism that advocated armed struggle.

(This armed communism has existed in our country for 50 years, and so many lives have already been lost—first and foremost, the young students who were enticed to go to the mountains. This is no longer the communism I am referring to.)

(The communism I am talking about is not the communism that I once believed in. The communism I referred to is the grandfather of communism by Karl Marx. That refers to the early Christians and the early Muslims who practiced it in Medina. What they called it was Christian communism, and for Muslims, the Mu’akhat system. These are the true socialist and communist practices.)

During Tuesday's impeachment trial, Padilla admitted to being a communist while questioning National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Regional Director Jeremy Lotoc regarding "Oplan Romanov."

Padilla said that "Operation Romanov" should be seen as a threat targeting the nation's prominent anti-communist leaders—specifically including both the Marcos and Duterte families—which means the vice president could also be at risk.

The senator's statement just came after fellow actor Angel Locsin called him out for his controversial remark.

(My question is, where were you when I was being red-tagged, even though you knew it wasn't true? In fact, you were even associating and chatting with the very people doing the red-tagging. You washed your hands of the matter and turned a blind eye to the truth.)

Locsin also recalled how Padilla himself told her about his experience "fighting for the country in the mountains."

(Back then, you would often tell stories about the time you went to the mountains and took up arms to fight for the country. You even mentioned that your ex used to visit you there.) –NB, GMA News
