Rodante Marcoleta transferred to QC Jail in Payatas —DILG
Senator Rodante Marcoleta was transferred to the male dormitory of Quezon City Jail in Payatas Wednesday morning, the Department of the Interior and Local Government said.
In a statement, the DILG, through the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), confirmed the commitment of Marcoleta to the Quezon City Jail–Male Dormitory at 10:49 a.m. on July 15, 2026.
This was after the Sandiganbayan Third Division issued a commitment order in connection with a plunder case filed against the senator.
Earlier in the day, Philippine General Hospital Director Dr. Gerardo Legaspi said the senator does not need to be hospitalized as his condition has improved.
He, however, recommended that Marcoleta be in isolation for one week.
The senator was initially confined at the Philippine National Police General Hospital due to pneumonia.
The DILG also assured the public that there will be no special treatment for Marcoleta.
"The DILG assures the public that the BJMP will continue to uphold its mandate with professionalism, impartiality, and strict adherence to established rules and procedures. No person deprived of liberty under the Bureau's custody shall be accorded special treatment," it said. —AOL, GMA News
