MTRCB inspects bus terminals for content compliance

The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) has inspected bus terminals to ensure compliance with content regulation in public utility vehicles amid the Holy Week rush.

In a statement on Wednesday, the MTRCB said it inspected terminals at the EDSA-Araneta-Cubao Station in Quezon City, Buendia, Manila, and the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) from April 14 to 15.

The MTCRB earlier reminded drivers and operators traveling this Holy Week that only “G” (General Patronage) and “PG” (Parental Guidance) rated content is allowed in public utility vehicles.

No violators were caught during the inspection.

The MTRCB also placed tarpaulins and distributed information, education, and communication materials to travelers.

“This is part of our larger responsibility to ensure that every Filipino commuter, particularly commuting children, will experience a safe and family-friendly environment, even while in transit,” said MTRCB chairperson Lala Sotto-Antonio.

The MTCRB urged passengers to report violators through its official Facebook pages or email at complaints@mtrcb.gov.ph.

Violators may face charges in accordance with Presidential Decree No. 1986 and Chapter XIII of the 2004 Revised Implementing Rules and Regulations.

Earlier today, no more buses were left going to Batangas and Lucena at a terminal in Quezon City.

Many trips going to the northern provinces were already fully booked until April 18 at another terminal, but extra buses will be available for chance passengers.—Mariel Celine Serquiña/AOL, GMA Integrated News
