The Philippine National Police (PNP) has beefed up its deployment of personnel to secure the country's observance of Holy Week 2025.
From 40,000 cops for this year's summer vacation season, PNP public information office head Police Colonel Randulf Tuaño said 21,000 more are now assigned for the Holy Week, pushing the total police deployment to over 60,000.
"Nag-deploy tayo originally po ng 40,355 at nagdagdag na po tayo ng 21,745 para lamang po sa Semana preparations. Bale aabot na po tayo ng 61,745," Tuaño told GTV's Balitanghali in an interview.

Tuaño said the top concerns of the PNP during the Holy Week break include incidents of drowning, robbery, theft, and vehicular accidents.
In a separate statement, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said its chief Police Major General Anthony Aberin visited the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) to check the readiness of deployed personnel.

Over 10,000 police officers from the NCRPO have been deployed to transport hubs, churches, tourist destinations, major thoroughfares, and other critical areas.
They are tasked with conducting anti-criminality operations, implementing target-hardening measures, managing traffic flow, and providing essential public safety services.
“In this season of reflection, NCRPO’ vigilance and commitment are vital in ensuring the security and safety of everyone. I want an NCRPO that is truly seen, heard and felt by the community towards the goal of a safe, secure and solemn Holy Week. ,” Aberin said.
Aberin also advised the riding public to remain vigilant, report any suspicious activities, and cooperate with authorities, especially in crowded places and transport hubs.
On Tuesday, PNP chief Police General Rommel Marbil said majority of cops will be on the ground while others will be on administrative duties during this period.
He said the designated personnel for the Holy Week security will focus on securing roads, tourist spots, and houses left by owners on vacation.
"Let's have patience po when we travel dahil (because) it will cause a traffic kasi (because) we will be strict on the gun ban. Please, trabaho po namin (Please, it is our job)," Marbil said
"Before you leave, you make sure na 'yung lugar niyo po is really safe. 'Yung mga bahay po, i-lock niyo po 'yan. Let us not give them [an] opportunity po doon sa mga masamang loob na pumasok po 'yung sa bahay natin na wala po tayo. Please be safe with sa mga ari-arian po natin," he added.
