PNP to deploy 58K cops to secure Holy Week

Around 58,000 police personnel are assigned for the security of the observation of the Holy Week across the country, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Tuesday.

In a radio interview, PNP chief Police General Rommel Marbil said that 85% of these cops will be on the ground while the remaining 15% will be on administrative duties.

Marbil said the designated personnel will focus on securing roads, tourist spots, and houses left by owners on vacation.

The PNP chief advised the public to be patient on the road and take care of their belongings while on vacation. He also reminded them to be cautious to avoid drowning incidents.

“Let's have patience po when we travel dahil (because) it will cause a traffic kasi (because) we will be strict on the gun ban. Please, trabaho po namin (it is our job),” Marbil said over Radyo Pilipinas.

“Before you leave, you make sure na yung lugar niyo po is really safe yung mga bahay po i-lock niyo po 'yan. Let us not give them opportunity po doon sa mga masamang loob na pumasok po yung sa bahay natin na wala po tayo. Please be safe with sa mga ari-arian po natin,” he added.

(Before you leave, make sure that your place is really safe, lock your houses. Let us not give criminals the opportunity to enter our houses when we are not there. Please be safe with our properties.)
