Ka Leody on Robin’s Senate hearing tears: He should return to acting

Senatorial candidate Leody de Guzman took a swipe at Senator Robin Padilla for becoming emotional during last Thursday’s Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing on the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte.

De Guzman quipped that Padilla should consider returning to show business, as the senator was visibly moved by Senator Bong Go’s opening statement during the proceedings.

“Ginagastusan ng taumbayan ang walang saysay na Senate hearing ni Imee Marcos para lang panooring umiyak si Robin Padilla. Kung ganyan lang rin ay bumalik na lang siya sa paga-artista,” the labor leader said in a Facebook post.

(The people are paying for Committee Chair Imee Marcos’ pointless Senate hearing just to watch Robin Padilla cry. If that’s all he can offer, he should go back to acting.)

(Robin was absent for weeks, reportedly vacationing in The Hague, and upon his return to the Philippines, the first thing he does is cry? I thought it was supposed to be ‘action, not drama?’ What a waste of taxpayers’ money on these lackeys.)

De Guzman also called on Filipinos to stop electing actors, boxers, and members of the elite into public office. Instead, he urged voters to support candidates who will fight for workers’ rights and people's interests.

GMA News Online has reached out to Padilla’s camp for comment and will update this story once a response is received.

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee is investigating the roles of the International Criminal Court, the International Criminal Police Organization, and various Philippine government agencies in Duterte’s arrest.

The panel is also assessing whether due process under domestic law and international treaties was observed in the former President’s case. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
