Sasot, Celiz, Badoy, Lopez cited in contempt, ordered detained

The House Tri Committee (TriComm) looking into the spread of fake news online has cited four individuals in contempt over their repeated failure to show up in the congressional inquiry on the proliferation of false information online.
Abang Lingkod party-list Rep. Stephen Paduano moved to cite Sass Sasot, Jeffrey Celiz, Lorraine Badoy, and Mark Lopez in contempt, which also carried a detention order.
The joint committee unanimously approved the motion.
Sasot, Celiz, and Badoy were cited in contempt for refusing to answer summons without legal excuse.
Lopez was cited in contempt over alleged undue interference after he criticized the ongoing House inquiry after he was made to apologize for his false social media posts.
Sasot, Celiz, and Badoy have all been ordered detained in Batasang Pambansa premises until the House TriComm ends the inquiry, while Lopez has been ordered detained also in Batasang Pambansa premises for 10 days.
