Some trips at PITX fully booked ahead of Holy Week

Some trips at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) are already fully booked for the Holy Week ahead of the holidays, GMA Integrated News’ James Agustin reported on Unang Balita Monday.

The trips of air-conditioned buses for Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and Albay from April 14 to April 17 or Holy Monday to Maundy Thursday are already booked up. For ordinary buses, the tickets for trips heading to Sorsogon and Albay are also sold out.

“Sa Holy Week po, umpisa ng [April 13 to 17] po, fully booked na po, lalong-lalo na 'yung mga panggabi,” bus dispatcher Ronaldo Pabulayan said.

(During Holy Week, starting April 13 to 17, they are fully booked, especially the night buses.)

Many passengers have reserved tickets for the Holy Week.

According to bus dispatchers, extra buses will be available to chance passengers during the holidays.

The PITX management is expecting around 2.4 million passengers to flock at the terminal from April 9—another holiday on Wednesday for Araw ng Kagitingan—until the end of the Holy Week on April 20.

Some passengers decided to travel to the provinces as early as Monday to avoid the expected influx of passengers during the Holy Week.

“Para po iwas dagsaan ng mga pasahero po (To avoid the rush of passengers),” passenger Cecile Cabuslay said.

“Para mas madali po 'yung biyahe at hindi po kami maaabutan ng Holy Week. Mas maganda rin ngayon, mas makaka-discount kasi nagmamahal din po ang pamasahe,” another passenger Khena Marie Marco said.

(To make the trip easier and avoid the rush during the Holy Week. It’s also better now, you can get more discounts because the fare is also getting expensive.)

Strict security is being implemented at the terminal. Some prohibited items such as bladed weapons, scissors, LPG tank, and lighters were confiscated from passengers upon entrance.—Joviland Rita/AOL, GMA Integrated News
