MRT 3 keeps extended operations ‘indefinitely’

The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT 3) has announced it will maintain its extended weekday operations for an indefinite period after receiving positive feedback from commuters.
The MRT 3 said it “successfully completed” the two-week pilot test of its extended operations beginning March 24, where over 61,000 passengers were served.
Specifically, a total of 29,530 passengers benefited from MRT 3’s new policy from March 24 to March 28, while 31,474 passengers were logged from March 31 to April 4.
The last train trips during weekdays have been extended by one hour—from 9:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at North Avenue Station, and from 10:09 p.m. to 11:09 p.m. at Taft Avenue Station.
The MRT 3 said it will also continue to deploy an additional train set during peak hours.
“Both initiatives are aimed at catering to the needs of more passengers, especially workers whose jobs are scheduled in the evening,” it added.
To recall, Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon called on the management of MRT 3 to extend its evening operations by an hour.
“This is for passenger welfare. We want to make the commuting public lives’ easier… That’s the easiest [way], increasing the operating hours by two hours ang laking bagay no’n ah in terms of pila (that would be a big deal in terms of reducing lines of passengers),” Dizon previously said.—Giselle Ombay/AOL, GMA Integrated News
