Marcos changes chant in Alyansa rally after Imee left slate

ANTIPOLO, Rizal— President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has changed his chant in endorsing his senatorial slate after his sister, reelectionist Senator Imee Marcos withdrew from the ticket.

In the previous campaign rallies of Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas, Marcos ended his speeches chanting “Labingdalawa, Alyansa!”

In a campaign rally here, Marcos chorused, “Alyansa all the way!”

“Kaya sa Mayo po, ‘wag na kayong magdalawang isip. Alyansa all the way! Alyansa sa bagong Pilipinas!” Marcos said.

This is the first campaign rally since Imee dropped her affiliation with the administration slate.

Last week, Imee Marcos announced that she is officially leaving the administration's ticket.

In her statement, Imee cited the actions of the administration during the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte which are different from her ideals and principles.

In a press conference before the campaign rally here, Alyansa’s campaign manager and Navotas City Rep. Toby Tiangco reiterated his message for Imee.

“Senator Imee has decided na hindi na po siyasasama sa Alyansa, and we respect her decision and wish her luck,” Tiangco said.

“Kami naman tuloy-tuloy lang po ‘yong kampanya namin, para ipakita tulad ng sabi ko kanina ‘yong kakayanan namin, ‘yong kwalipikasyon ng aming labing-isang kandidato na makikita naman kapag pinagkumpara ‘yong track record which is very important, ‘di ba?” Tiangco added.

Meanwhile, former Senator Panfilo Lacson wished Imee “all the best."

He jokingly expressed concern over the chant of rapper Andrew E before he introduced the president.

“Labing-isa na lang kami pero we still wish Senator Imee all the best sa kanyang campaign,” Lacson said.

“Ang may mas problema sa amin, si Andrew E. ‘Pag sinabi kong Alyansa, sabihin niyo labing-isa,’” he said in jest

In Alyansa’s campaign rallies, Andrew E performs before the President gives his speech. The rapper also yells Alyansa’s chant which will be later on echoed by President Marcos in ending his speech. —LDF, GMA Integrated News
