BuCor, DENR sign MOA on land titling of Iwahig prison

The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) on Thursday signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) in connection to the land titling of the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm in Puerto Princesa.

According to BuCor, the MOA will help establish boundaries and the legal status of the properties under BuCor.

The MOA was signed by bureau Director General Gregorio Catapang Jr. and DENR MIMAROPA officer-in-charge Regional Executive Director Felix Mirasol Jr.

“The BuCor maintains and administers several public lands across the country through various methods, including presidential proclamations, executive orders, donations, and more,” Catapang said in a statement.

Catapang stressed that the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm covers over 29,000 hectares of land.

Meanwhile, BuCor said the DENR will play a critical role as it possesses the authority and capability to conduct surveys and approve land measurements.—LDF, GMA Integrated News
