BARMM: Moonsighting for Eid’l Fitr to be held on March 30
The Bangsamoro Darul-Ifta’ (BDI) will hold an official moonsighting activity to declare Eid’l Fitr and the end of Ramadhan on March 30.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the BDI said the declaration is in accordance with Islamic tradition or ru’yah.
"Now, as we prepare to celebrate the Eid’l Fitr, let us carry forward the spiritual lessons and divine blessings of this sacred month," said Bangsamoro Mufti Sheikh Abdulrauf Guialani.
The BDI encouraged the Islam Community to use the final night of Ramadhan for prayer, supplication (du’a), and gratitude and await the official declaration of Eid.
Ramadhan 2025 officially started on March 2, following the lack of a crescent moon sighted during the BDI’s moonsighting on February 28.
Moonsighting, or hilal sighting, is a fundamental practice in Islam that determines the start of a new lunar month. The Islamic calendar follows the moon's cycles, and if the crescent is not observed, the ongoing month is completed before the next one begins. — Jiselle Anne Casucian/BAP, GMA Integrated News
