Kitty, Honeylet arrive in The Hague to visit Duterte

THE HAGUE - Former President Rodrigo Duterte’s common-law partner Honeylet Avanceña and their daughter Veronica “Kitty” Duterte have arrived at the Hague Penitentiary Institute.

The mother and daughter arrived at the penitentiary past noon on Wednesday.

Kitty was seen entering the penitentiary’s security registration area, but it was not clear whether she would be allowed access to visit her father today.

Both have declined to answer questions from the media, but responded to the greetings of some supporters.

British national David Hawe and his Filipina wife Aida Hawe, who were visiting the area, briefly spoke to Honeylet to show their support for the Duterte family, to which she responded, “God bless us all.”

Duterte siblings

During a gathering at The Hague on Sunday, Vice President Sara Duterte told their family’s supporters about the Duterte siblings’ group chat conversation on their father’s “bilin” (instruction).

“Ang sinabi niya kay Veronica, ‘Sabihin mo kay Kitty, hindi siya pwede bumisita rito hanggang hindi siya abogado.’ Sabi ni Kitty, ‘Grabe ang overacting ni Papa.’ So, ibig sabihin ba–she has five years until she becomes a lawyer–‘Mayroon pa akong limang taon [bago] makabisita.’”

(“He said of Veronica, ‘Tell Kitty, she cannot visit here until she becomes a lawyer.’ Kitty said [in the group chat], ‘Father is overacting too much.’ So, she has five years until she becomes a lawyer. [Kitty said,] ‘I still have five years before I can visit [him]’.”—LDF, GMA Integrated News
