Palace responds to Sara's 'dumpster' remark: 'Siya ang nawawala'

Malacañang on Wednesday hit back at Vice President Sara Duterte for saying that the Philippines is "working to go to the dumpster."

Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro said during a briefing.

(Isn't she the one missing in the Philippines right now?)

This was Castro's response amid Duterte's claim that the country seems to be on a decline.

"At this point, we should be working our way up, but it seems that we are working to go to the dumpster," said the Vice President.

But Castro responded by saying that the country "could be worse."

(I think we might really go in a dumpster if our leader is like VP Sara, who prioritizes going abroad to serve one person, although that's her father, but a lot of people depend on her as vice president.)

GMA News Online has reached out to the OVP for comment on Castro's remarks but it has yet to reply as of posting time.

Duterte is in The Hague, Netherlands where his father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, is the under custody of the International Criminal Court due to crimes against humanity charges.

Castro previously said that Duterte may have not been noticing the efforts of the government because she is abroad.

(If she doesn't see anything from the administration, it's probably because she's abroad. The President is in our country right now, in the Philippines, working, while the Vice President is missing.)

Meanwhile, the Vice President on Tuesday refuted claims that she called for President Ferdinand Marcos to resign from his post, claiming the call came from the people.

And I gave them examples,” Duterte said in an ambush interview at The Hague, Netherlands.

(I never said Marcos should resign. What I said yesterday was, if you call for Marcos to resign, you should give a reason why. And then I gave examples.)

Duterte was referring to the gathering she attended at The Hague, where supporters of former president Rodrigo Duterte chanted “Marcos resign!” to which she responded, “Kayo ang nagsabi niyan, hindi ako ah (you are the ones who said that, not me).”

“Bakit ba kailangan mag-resign?

(Why should you resign? It's because you failed to show the people that you can think clearly and that you can lead.) —VAL, GMA Integrated News
