Marcos confident DICT's Aguda leadership to expedite PH digitalization transformation
President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. has expressed confidence that the digitalization efforts of the government would hasten under the leadership of former UnionDigital Bank president and CEO Henry Rhoel Aguda.
''Sa pamumuno ni Secretary Aguda, tiwala akong mas mapapabilis ang digital transformation ng bansa. Hangad nating makinabang ang bawat Pilipino sa mga oportunidad ng makabagong teknolohiya,'' Marcos said in a social media post Tuesday evening.
(Under the leadership of Secretary Aguda, I am confident that the digital transformation of the country will be fast. We aim that every Filipino will benefit from the opportunities of the latest technology.)
Aguda took his oath as Department of Information and Communications Technology Secretary before the President on March 25, Tuesday. He replaced former secretary Ivan John Uy, who resigned from the post early this month.
Aguda was part of Marcos’ Digital Infrastructure Lead at the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC), and has experience in the banking, technology and telecommunications sectors with specialization in digital transformation, digital banking and financial crimes.
He previously served as the board chairman of both City Savings Bank and UBX Philippines, the director of Insular Health Care, BancNet, Metaverse Ventures and Platforms and Philippine Clearing House Corp.; senior executive vice president, among other positions, at Union Bank of the Philippines; and chief technology officer at Amihan Global Strategies, Globe Telecom, Government Service Insurance System, and Digitel. —KG/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
