ICC judges focused on delivering justice amid trolling after Duterte arrest

The International Criminal Court (ICC) said it is only focused on delivering justice for the victims despite the reported spamming on the social media pages of its judges amid the case against former President Rodrigo Duterte.
In an exclusive interview of GMA Integrated News, ICC spokesperson Dr. Fadi El Abdallah said the international court is setting aside the reported spamming and trolling against its judges.
“We are all focused on only one thing, which is delivering justice in the best conditions for the victims and to ensure that truth is revealed about the guilt or innocence of any person who is accused,” Abdallah said in a report of Mariz Umali on Unang Balita on Wednesday.
Earlier, Filipino ICC-accredited lawyer Joel Butuyan said that the ICC may take into account the behavior of Duterte’s camp and supporters in its deliberations on his bid for interim release.
“Sinaktan pa nga ang isang policewoman, nagkaroon ng malaking bukol and there was an attempt to really prevent his arrest. Nandiyan na din 'yung ginagawa ng mga supporters niya, to the point na binu-bully at ini-intimidate ang judges mismo,” Butuyan said,
(They even injured a policewoman, who sustained a significant bruise. There was a clear attempt to prevent his arrest. His supporters have also engaged in bullying and intimidating judges.)
The opinions of the victims' counsel and the ICC’s Office of the Prosecutor will also be considered in the decision.
Philippine authorities on March 11 assisted the Interpol in serving a warrant of arrest from the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Duterte for crimes against humanity in connection with his drug war.
After his arrest, Duterte was brought to the Hague in the Netherlands.
Duterte on March 13 (Philippine time) entered the Hague Penitentiary Institution or the Scheveningen Prison where he is being held while awaiting trial.
The next hearing on the confirmation of the charges has been set for September 23, 2025.
