Ex-DOF official Cielo Magno files cyber libel complaint vs. blogger Sass Sasot

Former Department of Finance undersecretary Cielo Magno on Tuesday filed a cyber libel complaint against blogger Sass Rogando Sasot, accusing her of “malicious imputations and wrongs.” 

“Today, I filed a criminal complaint against Sass Sasot for the crime of cyberlibel. Like many others, I have been the subject of malicious imputations and wrongs by Ms. Sasot,” Magno said in a Facebook post. 

“It’s time to push back and to use all the legal remedies that are available to us to put an end to this display of impunity,” she added. 

GMA News Online has reached out to Sassot for a comment.

Magno and Sassot have had contentious online exchanges since late last year regarding the former’s criticism of Vice President Sara Duterte’s confidential fund spending.

Magno told GMA News Online that one of the online posts that pushed her to file a complaint was Sassot’s post last February 6, which read, “Sa sobrang galit ni Cielo Magno kay Mary Grace Piattos, binigyan nya ng ilang bilyon mga Congressman para hanapin ito. Economics prof nga. May demand. May supply.” 

(Cielo Magno is so mad at Mary Grace Piattos that she gave the Congressmen billions of pesos to find her. She really is an economics professor. There is demand. There is supply.) 

In her statement, Magno also said that she is hoping that her latest action will “restore civility and begin a path towards accountability and good governance.” — BM, GMA Integrated News
