Alyansa postpones rallies in Bulacan, Pampanga amid start of local campaigns
Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas, the administration’s senatorial ticket, has postponed its scheduled rallies in Bulacan and Pampanga this week amid the start of the local campaign.
Navotas City Rep. Toby Tiangco, the alliance’s campaign manager, said the original schedule of the senatorial campaign was pushed back as their candidates received invitations in several localities.
“Some Alyansa candidates have been invited to attend local proclamation rallies, which are typically held on Fridays and Saturdays. With the start of the local campaign on March 28, they’ve received multiple invitations they wish to accommodate,” Tiangco said in a statement.
“In response, we decided to postpone our scheduled rallies to give way to these local events and allow candidates to engage directly with local leaders and communities,” he added.
Meanwhile, Tiangco said that Nacionalista Party (NP) is still part of the alliance despite Senator Imee Marcos and Las Piñas Rep. Camille Villar skipping their last three campaign rallies.
Villar, Marcos, and reelectionist Senator Pia Cayetano are all running under NP. The three of them were absent during Alyansa’s rally in Tacloban, while Marcos and Villar both skipped last week’s sorties in Cavite and Laguna.
“The Nacionalista Party remains part of Alyansa. Las Pinas Representative Camille Villar was present in an Alyansa meeting last night,” Tiangco said.
Villar has not issued a statement yet on why she skipped Alyansa’s recent campaign sorties.
Meanwhile, Marcos said she finds it uncomfortable attending Alyansa’s rally after the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte.
Both in Cavite and Laguna, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. did not mention his sister in his endorsement speech.
During the Laguna sortie, the President asked the attendees to support the 11 senatorial candidates of Alyansa Para Sa Bagong Pilipinas instead of 12.
Tiangco earlier denied any discussion of dropping Imee from the slate amid her pronouncements. —LDF, GMA Integrated News
