Palace: If they're for peace, why ask Marcos to resign?
Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro denounced former presidential spokesman Harry Roque for calling again for a people power or a peaceful gathering following the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte.
''Peaceful gathering for what? For what? Anong purpose? (What's the purpose?) Well, they can discuss this over YouTube channel nila, over social media accounts nila, and for what is that gathering? If they’re for peace, why are they asking for the resignation of PBBM?'' Castro said during a briefing on Tuesday.
Malacañang had already played down calls from some supporters of Duterte for a people power following the latter's arrest due to crimes against humanity charges before the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Castro had likened this to bringing down the present administration.
President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. had told supporters of his predecessor that the government was just doing its job when authorities arrested him on March 11.
Meanwhile, Castro also deemed as fake news the claim of Roque that First Lady Louise ''Liza'' Araneta-Marcos supposedly got mad when Duterte did not appoint her husband as Agriculture Secretary.
''Fake news, fake news. Prove it,'' Castro said. —LDF, GMA Integrated News
