No tsunami threat in PH after strong quake in New Zealand — PHIVOLCS

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) has advised that there is no tsunami threat in the country following the magnitude 6.8 earthquake in New Zealand on Tuesday morning.
In an advisory, the PHIVOLCS said the earthquake off the west coast of South Island in New Zealand was recorded around 9:43 a.m.
The depth of the earthquake was 10 kilometers, according to the PHIVOLCS.
“No destructive tsunami threat exists based on available data. This is for information purposes only and there is no tsunami threat to the Philippines from this earthquake,” the PHIVOLCS said. — Joviland Rita/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
