Bomb threat disrupts OVP operations

Work at the Office of Vice President Sara Duterte was disrupted following a bomb threat Monday afternoon, a statement from the said office said.

"Fortunately, no explosive devices were found, and the OVP resumed operations at 4 p.m., it added.

Personnel of the OVP were directed to evacuate to a secured area of Robinsons Cybergate Plaza in Mandaluyong City after a staff member reported receiving a text message containing the bomb threat.

An Explosive Ordnance Disposal team from the Mandaluyong Police was quickly dispatched to the scene to conduct a thorough search.

"Bomb threats are a serious matter concerning public security and safety," the OVP said.

"The public is reminded that hoax bomb threats can endanger lives and are punishable by law under Presidential Decree No. 1727, also known as the Anti-Bomb Joke Law," it added.

Sara Duterte is currently in The Hague, the Netherlands for a visit to her father, former president Rodrigo Duterte, who is facing trial before the International Criminal Court. —LDF, GMA Integrated News
