Palace challenges ‘fake news’ peddlers to prove ‘edited’ photo of Liza Marcos

Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro on Sunday slammed those who were spreading “fake news” about a recently uploaded photo of First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, saying that they should present evidence that will prove whether it was edited or not.
In a statement to Palace reporters, Castro was referring to a photo posted on the official Facebook page of the First Lady on Saturday, March 22, with the caption: “Regular meeting of the Asian Cultural Council; Pangarap Clubhouse, Malacañang Park, Manila | 21 March 2025.”
In the photo, Liza Marcos was seen wearing a blue dress in a dining area with her guests.
Some netizens, however, claimed the photo was supposedly edited.
In response, Castro said that those who were criticizing the photo “know nothing” about the meeting.
“Those who usually criticize are those who are not privy to any meeting. What can we expect from those who know nothing? Madaling magpretend na [it’s easy to pretend] as if they know everything,” the Palace Press Officer said.
“Anyway, it is better to challenge these fake news vloggers/bloggers to show their own verified evidence that will counter that photo,” she added.
Castro previously denied Marcos was held by law enforcers in the United States.
The First Lady had a working visit to the US to participate in the Meeting of the Minds and the Manila International Film Festival. She was in Miami, Florida and Los Angeles, California from March 5 to 8.
On March 15, Liza Marcos personally led the awarding ceremony at Go Negosyo’s Women Summit 2025, which honored outstanding women entrepreneurs for their contributions and leadership in business. —RF, GMA Integrated News
