Imee says she hasn't talked to brother Bongbong in a long time
Senator Imee Marcos said that she hasn't had a conversation with her brother, President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., in a long time.
In an interview on Saturday, the senator said that she was only able to talk to him during public gatherings.
“Hindi na kami nag-uusap, matagal na… Maraming nakapaligid sa kanya na humaharang sa aming mag-usap,” she said.
(We don’t talk anymore, it’s been a long time… There are so many people around him that prohibit us from talking.)
She added that she had no resentment toward the President for not mentioning her name at the Alyansa rally in Cavite on Friday.
"Ayos lang sa akin. Wala namang problema doon. Okay lang dahil nakatutok ako sa pagsisiyasat ng pagkuha kay FPRRD sa Pilipinas patungong the Hague. Unahin natin ang pagtanggol sa ating soberanya, kaysa sa pulitika't kampanya,” she said.
(It’s alright with me. There’s no problem with that. It’s okay because I am focused on analyzing the arrest of FPRRD (former President Rodrigo Duterte) from the Philippines to the Hague. We will prioritize defending our sovereignty over politics and campaigns.)
The senator is a staunch defender of the former president, whose arrest on an International Criminal Court warrant for alleged unlawful killings committed during his drug war was implemented by the Marcos administration.
President Marcos, in an Alyansa rally in Laguna on Saturday, also omitted Imee in his call for public support for the administration's Senate slate. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/VBL, GMA Integrated News
