Vice President Sara Duterte on Saturday expressed gratitude to the Philippine Army as it commemorates its 128th founding anniversary.

"We thank our soldiers and everyone serving the Philippine Army with integrity, honor, and undying commitment," Duterte said in a video posted online.

"For generations, the brave men and women of the Philippine Army have shown that the Filipino fighting spirit burns in the hearts of every Filipino—a flame that proves we are a nation of patriots," added Duterte.

The Vice President also took a moment to pay tribute to the fallen soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for the peace and safety of the nation.

"Their names may be carved in stone, but their spirits live on in the nation they helped build through their sacrifice, courage, and bravery," she said.

Duterte emphasized the importance of honoring veterans for their inspiration to the next generation of Filipinos.
