Some schools shift to online classes amid transport strike March 24-26, 2025


Classes will be held online instead of face-to-face in some schools from March 24 to 26, 2025 as transport group MANIBELA conducts a strike.

Below are the the schools and universities which will shift to online classes during that period:

Adamson University: Synchronous online classes in all levels on March 24. Campus will be open for students and faculty members who may wish to use the facilities in their holding of online classes. All offices will also be open for onsite transactions.

Ateneo de Manila University: For Higher Education, Undergraduate and Graduate Levels (SOH, GBSEALD, JGSOM, SOSE, RGLSOSS) on March 24 to 26: In general, shift to online (synchronous or asynchronous) learning mode. Labs and other academic activities that need to be onsite may be especially arranged between instructors and students.

Centro Escolar University: Classes in all CEU campuses will shift to online for Monday. March 24. The midterm exams are rescheduled to March 26 to 29, 2025.

Colegio de San Juan de Letran: Synchronous online classes for all levels will be held on March 24. All offices will operate on a skeletal workforce.

De La Salle Araneta University: Classes for both the Integrated School (IS) and Tertiary Education Department (TED) will shift to online mode on March 24. Office operations and council meetings of administrators will proceed onsite as scheduled.

De La Salle University: Senior high school, undergraduate, and graduate classes at its Manila and Laguna campuses would be conducted online from March 24 to 26. Despite the shift, both campuses would remain open. Work at the Manila and Laguna campuses would also transition to a work-from-home setup, except for essential personnel in facilities, campus services, libraries, enrollment services, and finance required for campus operations.

Far Eastern University: Teaching and learning at FEU Manila and Makati will be conducted online on March 24. Library services will be available and office will be open for transactions.

Malayan High School of Science: Classes in all levels would shift to a synchronous online mode on March 24.

Manila Central University: All classes for Monday, March 24 will shift to online.

Mapua University: Senior high school classes in both the Intramuros and Makati campuses will shift to synchronous online mode on March 24. Summer term enrollment for undergraduate students on March 24 will proceed fully online as originally scheduled. For in-person transactions, the Admissions, Treasury, and Registrar’s Offices will be operating on a skeletal workforce.

Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila: Face-to-face (F2F) classes at all levels will shift to an online modality on March 24. The suspension does not apply to students engaged in clerkships, internships, RLE, OJT, and thesis defenses, which will proceed as scheduled. All university offices will remain open, and regular work operations will continue as scheduled.

Philippine Women's University: PWU-JASMS Manila classes will shift to online on Monday, March 24, while the planned sportsfest and fair at PWU-JASMS QC shall proceed as scheduled. Classes in PWU Taft Campus shall continue on synchronous online modality as scheduled. Work operations in all PWU and PWU-JASMS Campuses shall proceed as scheduled. Students who are processing their applications and enrollment may do so either in-person or online via www.pwu.edu.ph. 

School of the Holy Spirit of Quezon City: regular online learning on March 24; shift to online learning on March 25

University of Perpetual Help System DALTA - Las Piñas: All classes for Monday, March 24 will shift to online or asynchronous. University offices will remain open for on-site transactions.

University of the East

  • For students on all levels of the UE Colleges of Arts and Sciences-Manila and -Caloocan, Business Administration-Mla. and Cal., Computer Studies and Systems, Education, Engineering-Mla., and Fine Arts, Architecture and Design, as well as the Basic Education Department/K-12-Caloocan and PE classes:
    • March 24: asynchronous
    • March 25 & 26: online synchronous. 
  • For students of the UE College of Engineering-Caloocan:
    • March 24: Online synchronous for Monday-only subjects, asynchronous for MW subjects
    • March 25: Online synchronous for Tuesday-only and TTh subjects alike
    • March 26: Online synchronous for MW subjects; asynchronous for Wednesday-only subjects 
  • For the UE College of Dentistry, for all three dates:
    • All clinics will proceed as usual onsite.
    • Second- to sixth-year lecture and laboratory classes will be conducted onsite/face-to-face.
    • For purely lecture classes, please check with your professors.  
  • For the UE College of Law: Online synchronous on all three dates, *except* for those with midterm examinations, which will be conducted onsite/face-to-face.
  • For the UE Graduate School: Online synchronous on March 25-26. (There are no UE GS classes on Mondays.)
  • For UE Basic Education/K-12-Manila: Online synchronous on all three dates.
  • For synchronous schedules, make sure to conduct your virtual sessions in Google Meet or other permitted video conference tools, and access Canvas LMS or Google Classroom on time.
  • Meanwhile, all UE offices on both the Manila and Caloocan campuses will be open as usual on those dates.

University of the Philippines - Diliman: Faculty members are encouraged to shift to remote or asynchronous modes of learning from March 24 to 26. For scheduled exams and other projects, faculty members in consultation with their students may opt to conduct such activities face-to-face.

University of the Philippines - Manila: Faculty members are "enjoined to exercise leniency towards students who may encounter difficulties attending onsite classes and activities due to transportation disruptions."

University of Santo Tomas: UST will implement its "Enriched Virtual Mode of Instruction" and remote work arrangements on March 24, 2025.

Bulacan

In Bulacan, Governor Daniel Fernando also announced that alternative learning modalities will be used by public and private schools for all levels from March 24 to 26 as a response to the transport strike.
