Warrant of arrest issued vs. Darryl Yap over Pepsi Paloma teaser; director posts bail

Darryl Yap warrant of arrest Pepsi Paloma

A Muntinlupa court has issued an arrest warrant against director Darryl Yap but was not arrested after he promptly posted bail.

In an order dated March 19, the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 203 ordered that the e-warrant of arrest issued against Yap be recalled and set aside after he posted a cash bond amounting to P10,000 for each count.

Yap's lawyer Atty. Raymund Fortun confirmed that the director posted bail for two counts of libel, amounting to a total of P20,000.

The Court set his arraignment on March 26, 2025.

When asked, both Sotto and Yap’s camp declined to comment.

This came after Yap was charged with two counts of libel under Article 353 and 355 of the Revised Penal Code, in relation to violation of Republic Act 10175 or Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 on March 17.

The charges stemmed from the teaser of the Yap’s upcoming film, “The Rapists of Pepsi Paloma,” released last January 1, wherein the character of Gina Alajar (who is playing Charito Solis) asked the lead actress portraying Pepsi Paloma if she was raped by actor-host Vic Sotto.

The lead character replied, “Yes.” –NB, GMA Integrated News
