PNP: Validated election-related incidents now 11

The number of validated election-related incidents (ERIs) has increased to 11, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Thursday.
The PNP said nine of the validated ERIs were “violent” and two were “non-violent.”
Most of the validated ERIs were reported in Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao with five, followed by Western Visayas with two. One validated ERI each in the Ilocos Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Soccsksargen, and Cordillera Administrative Region.
The PNP is still validating two suspected ERIs in the Davao Region and Calabarzon.
Meanwhile, the PNP said a total of 1,783 persons were arrested for violating the election gun ban.
Most of them were from Metro Manila with 577, followed by Central Luzon with 254 and Central Visayas with 249, according to the PNP.
The arrested election gun ban violators include the following:
- 12 PNP personnel
- nine Armed Forces of the Philippines personnel
- six personnel from other law enforcement agencies
- six elected government officials
- two appointed government officials
- two CAFGU Active Auxiliary
- nine foreign nationals
- three children in conflict with the law
- 31 security guards
- 1,702 civilians
A total of 1,825 firearms were seized including 749 revolvers, 508 pistols, 70 gun replicas, 42 explosives, 39 Class A guns, 15 rifles, 12 shotguns, five Class B guns, among others.
Election Day is on May 12, but overseas voters may cast their votes from April 13 to May 12, while local absentee voters may cast their votes from April 28 to 30. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
