Ironic people who allegedly committed injustice crying for justice, says Enrile FB post
Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Juan Ponce Enrile's Facebook page on Tuesday night contained a comment on the "irony" of people who committed "violent acts of injustice" calling for justice, and who are calling for prayer rallies to a God "they called stupid."
Enrile didn't name names but his post on Facebook came on the heels of former President Rodrigo Duterte's arrest on a warrant from the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity in connection with killings under his administration's war on drugs.
"What a pathetic and ghastly irony! Those who allegedly committed unwarranted and violent acts of injustice are now drowning and gasping for justice. In their desperate distress, they grasp at straws for help and called for widespread national prayer rallies to a God they called 'stupid'," the post read
"They blame nearly everyone else--except themselves--for their miseries which they themselves created because of their lust, arrogance, hubris, and hunger for power and pelf," it added.
Duterte is facing charges before the ICC for alleged extrajudicial killings of drug personalities and criminals.
His lawyers are saying that his arrest lacked due process and that he was kidnapped when he was taken to The Hague to face the ICC.
GMA News Online is getting a comment from Duterte's camp and will publish it as soon as it is available.
"They now claw for whatever support and sympathy and support they could muster to extricate themselves from a tight legal trap that they themselves dug for themselves. Karma!! Abracadabra!! What a tragic miscalculation!!!" the Enrile post read. –Sherylin Untalan/NB, GMA Integrated News
