Duterte trial Marcos says not right to kill thousands Eleksyon 2025

TACLOBAN CITY – On the day of former President Rodrigo Duterte's scheduled first appearance before the International Criminal Court in The Hague, President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. in a campaign sortie said it was not right to kill thousands in the fight against crime and illegal drugs.

As he made a pitch for the senatorial candidates of the Alyansa Para Sa Bagong Pilipinas, Marcos said the alliance did not believe that killing thousands of individuals would solve the problem of illegal drugs.

''Sa laban naman sa kontra droga at sa krimen, hindi po natin kailangang dumaan sa madugong solusyon, wala po sa amin ang naniniwala na ang solusyon sa krimen at sa droga ay ang pumatay ng libo-libo na kapwa nating Pilipino,'' Marcos said

''Hindi po tama 'yun,'' he added.

Marcos and his senatorial candidates is in Leyte to woo voters in the province said to be his family's bailiwick in the Visayas.

Alyansa campaign manager Navotas City Rep. Toby Tiangco is expecting Leyte to again support Marcos and his candidates.

“Leyte has always stood with President Marcos and his vision for a stronger Philippines. We believe the Leyteños will continue to support leaders who will work with the administration in delivering real progress,” Tiangco said.

Duterte is in The Hague to face charges of crimes against humanity of murder in connection with killings under his administration's war on drugs.

He was arrested on Tuesday and taken to The Hague on the same day on a warrant from the ICC.

Marcos said the Philippine government didn't help the ICC but had to honor commitments to Interpol.
