SC raffles Kitty, Baste petitions seeking to bring Duterte back to PH

The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday said it has raffled the petitions filed by the children of former President Rodrigo Duterte seeking to bring him back to the Philippines after he was flown to The Hague, Netherlands.

“Upon the order of the Chief Justice for a special raffle, both petitions have been raffled to a Member-in-Charge for appropriate action,” SC spokesperson Atty. Camille Ting said in a statement.

In separate petitions for habeas corpus filed earlier in the day, Veronica “Kitty” Duterte and Davao Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte asked the high court to order the government to present Duterte.

Duterte was flown to The Hague, where the International Criminal Court (ICC) is based, to face charges linked to the drug war after his arrest.

The siblings argued that Duterte should not have been arrested and detained based on a warrant issued by the ICC as it has no jurisdiction in the country.
