Go continues to court votes of barangay officials
PDP-Laban senatorial candidates Bong Go and Raul Lambino held separate campaign activities to bolster their bid in the May 2025 elections.
Go attended the Liga ng mga Barangay Masbate Provincial Chapter Annual Congress held at Winford Hotel, Manila.
In his speech, Go emphasized the role of barangay officials as the government's frontliners in delivering essential services to the people. He assured them that if given another opportunity to serve in the Senate, he would remain committed to supporting their initiatives.
Go said he wants to expand and enhance barangay capabilities in governance so they can better serve their constituents and contribute to the development of their communities.
Meanwhile, Lambino criticized those he called "terrorist groups" for pushing the impeachment agenda against Vice President Sara Duterte.
“Ginagamit lamang yan para maging maingay at para makita ng taong bayan kung ano ang kanilang ginagawa at maging popular sila. Huwag na natin lituhin at hindi natin papayagan na malinlang pa tayo. Katulad ng ibang tumatakbong senador ngayon, nagpahayag ako ng aking statement dahil yan ang totoo,” he shared.
The lawyer also expressed skepticism over the fairness of a Senate trial, should the impeachment reach that stage, arguing that political interests, rather than evidence, would determine the outcome.
"Kung ngayon gaganapin ang presidential election, walang tatalo kay VP Inday Sara. Kaya't pilit nilang pinapaalis sa puwesto para hindi na makatakbo muli," he added.
Aside from the impeachment trial, Lambino also raised concerns about several national issues, including allegations of corruption and mismanagement in infrastructure projects and government funds. He questioned the collapse of a bridge in Isabela, linking it to flaws in planning and execution dating back to the previous administration.
Lambino also reiterated his long-standing advocacy for shifting the country’s government system to federalism, arguing that the current structure under the 1987 Constitution is outdated.
“If I were elected to the Senate, my first priority would be to push for the abolition of Congress and replace it with a parliamentary system like Malaysia, Singapore, and Japan,” he declared.—Sherylin Untalan/LDF, GMA Integrated News
