Marcos wants immediate probe into FA-50 fighter jet crash

President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. wants an immediate probe on what happened to the FA-50 fighter jet, which was found in Mt. Kalatungan, Bukidnon.

''Sa huli nating pagkakaalam po, natagpuan na po ito at talaga pong pinamamadali po ng ating Pangulo ang maagarang pag-iimbestiga po dito. Kung saan nagkamali at kung ano pa ang maaaring maging remedyo sa mga ganitong klaseng pangyayari,'' Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro said at a press briefing.

(The last information we have was that it was already found, and the President wants an immediate investigation on this to determine what went wrong and what will be the remedies in such incidents.)

"Ang ating damdamin po patungkol po diyan ay nakakalungkot po kapag nangyayari sa atin ‘to,'' she added.

(We are really saddened by this incident.)

The missing FA-50 fighter jet was found on Wednesday with two people confirmed dead.

“The PAF FA-50 aircraft reported missing has been located by ground troops in the vicinity of the Mt. Kalatungan Complex, Bukidnon, today, March 5, 2025,” the Philippine Air Force (PAF) said in a statement.

“With deep regret and profound sadness, the PAF announces the loss of the two pilots aboard,” it added.

The FA-50 fighter jet went missing early Tuesday morning during a tactical night operation in support of ground troops, according to the PAF.

The PAF said it has grounded its FA-50 fleet with 11 remaining units and will ensure a thorough investigation into the accident. --VAL, GMA Integrated News
