Pimentel to replace Hontiveros as CA member

Pimentel to replace Hontiveros as CA member

Senate Minority Leader Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III will replace Senator Risa Hontiveros as the representative of the minority bloc in the powerful Commission on Appointments.

Hontiveros announced this in a statement on Wednesday, saying she will make Pimentel's official nomination on June 2 when the Senate resumes sessions.

"Senator Pimentel, a former Senate President and our current Senate Minority Leader, has the experience to ensure that only the most qualified individuals are appointed to key government positions," Hontiveros said.

"With Senator Pimentel continuing the Minority’s representation, we trust that the CA will remain fair, accountable, and transparent," she added.

Should the replacement happen, Pimentel will only serve for one week—from June 2 to June 13—as the CA could only confirm appointments while Congress is in session.
