PNP: No donations directly received from alleged Chinese spies

The Philippine National Police (PNP) said Tuesday that it has not received any donations directly from the Chinese nationals who have been linked to alleged espionage activities.
“Based po sa initial naming record check ay wala pong donation na directly tinanggap po ang Tarlac Police Station galing doon sa sinasabi pong group na ‘yun,” said PNP spokesperson and Police Region Office 3 chief Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo.
(Based on our initial record check, there is no donation directly received by the Tarlac Police Station from that said group.)
“Nagtanong din po ako sa Directorate for Logistics at sinasabi po nila, there is no record that would indicate na may ni-receive po ang PNP and any of its unit directly doon sa sinasabing group po na kinaaaniban nung mga alleged Chinese spies,” she added.
(I also asked the Directorate for Logistics and they say, there is no record that would indicate that the PNP and any of its units have received anything directly from the group of the alleged Chinese spies.)
However, Fajardo said the PNP only accepted the donation from the city government of Manila.
“Ang donation na tinanggap ng PNP ay galing sa LGU ng Manila. So kung titignan po ay hindi po kontrolado po at least ng Manila Police District kung saan galing yan,” she said.
(The donation received by the PNP came from the LGU of Manila. So if you look at it, it is not controlled at least by the Manila Police District where it came from.)
“As far as MPD is concerned, I'm just assuming na doon sa deed of donation ang nakareflect po doon na donor po ay local government unit ng Manila,” she added.
(As far as MPD is concerned, I'm just assuming that the deed of donation reflects that the donor is the local government unit of Manila.)
On February 28, Reuters reported that four Chinese accused of espionage made donations of cash to a Philippine city and vehicles to two police forces.
China's foreign ministry said China required its citizens to abide by local laws and that the civic groups "spontaneously formed and self-managed by the relevant Chinese citizens ... have no affiliation with the Chinese government." — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
