Sara Duterte urges Muslims to pray for peace, forgiveness as Ramadan begins
Vice President Sara Duterte called for prayers as she joined the Muslim community in the observance of the holy month of Ramadan.
In a video message, she urged Muslims to join in prayers for peace and forgiveness, ''as we navigate every adversity we face in our personal lives and as a nation.''
''We are all called to reflect on the values of sacrifice and obedience as cornerstones to a path leading to enlightenment and grace,'' she said.
"May the spirit of Ramadan guide your prayers and reflections while we look forward with profound hope and optimism to an inclusive and dignified future for every Filipino," she added.
Ramadan begins on Sunday, March 2, as there was no sighting of the crescent moon on Friday, February 28, Bangsamoro Grand Mufti and Executive Director of the Bangsamoro Darul-Ifta' (BDI), Sheikh Abdulrauf Guialani, announced.
During this month, Muslims should observe fasting, prayer, and reflection in line with the teachings of Islam. —Sherylin Untalan/VBL, GMA Integrated News
