SWS: 90% of Pinoys will vote for advocates of food security, healthcare

Ninety percent of Filipinos voters will support candidates who will advocate for food security and strengthening of the health care system, the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) poll showed.

The SWS survey, conducted from February 15 to 19 and commissioned by the Stratbase Group, also showed that a close 89% will vote for those who will push for increasing job opportunities and equal access to education.

Meanwhile, 88% of respondents will vote for bets who will stand up for workers' rights and the welfare of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

Others advocacies and their respective percentages in the SWS survey results are:

  • reducing the poverty and hunger of Filipinos — 83%
  • controlling the prices of basic services and goods — 81%
  • addressing the impacts of climate change and enhancing disaster preparedness — 79%
  • defending national security and sovereignty in the West Philippine Sea — 77%
  • fighting illegal drugs — 77%
  • achievement of energy security and the usage of renewable energy — 75%
  • fighting crimes that victimize ordinary citizens, like killings, holdups, robberies, physical violence, etc. — 72%
  • eradicating graft and corruption in government — 70%
  • enactment of a law against political dynasties — 63%
  • fair impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte at the Senate — 53%

The SWS survey used face-to-face interviews with 1,800 registered voters nationwide aged 18 years old and above.

Of this number, 300 were in Metro Manila, 900 in Balance Luzon (areas in Luzon outside of Metro Manila), 300 in the Visayas, and 300 in Mindanao.

The sampling error margins are ±2.31% for national percentages, ±3.27% for Balance Luzon, and ±5.66% each for Metro Manila, Visayas, and Mindanao.
