Querubin, Bosita vow decisive action vs smugglers, extend support to farmers

Independent senatorial candidates Ariel Querubin and Bonifacio Bosita emphasized the need for stronger law enforcement against economic sabotage and solutions to inefficiencies in the agricultural sector.
According to a statement issued Wednesday, Querubin and Bosita roamed the Balintawak Public Market in Quezon City to visit and converse with vendors and consumers.
Querubin vowed to take decisive action against hoarders and smugglers should he land a Senate seat, while Bosita vowed to extend his support to farmers affected by the crisis.
“Ang nagpapataas [sa presyo ng mga bilihin]—mga hoarders at smugglers na yan. Yun ang gusto naming matingnan maigi kasi wala pa rin talagang nakukulong na hoarders at smugglers… Ito yung tutukan natin. Hahabulin natin [itong mga smugglers at hoarders],” said Querubin, a Medal of Valor awardee in the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
(Hoarders and smugglers are the reason why [prices of necessities] are getting higher. That is what we want to check because no hoarders and smugglers have been detained yet… This is what we will focus on. We will chase down [smugglers and hoarders].)
“Yung support ng pamahalaan sa mga farmers di makaabot ng maayos. Pag mababa ang produksyon, mahal ang bilihin sa palengke… Kapag mahal ang bilihin, apektado ang kalusugan ng bawat pamilya. Apektado ang edukasyon, ang pag-aaral ng mga bata,” added Bosita, a former police official and currently a member of the 1-Rider party-list in the House of Representatives .
(The government’s support for farmers are not distributed properly. When production is low, the prices in the market are high… When prices are high, the health of every family is affected. Education and the studies of children are affected as well.) — Jiselle Anne Casucian/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
