PCO to support bills vs. fake news

The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) vowed to support any measure that would prohibit fake news in the country.

At a news briefing, press officer Undersecretary Claire Castro even anyone outside the Palace would want a ban on disinformation.

“And personally, when I was one of the resource persons dito sa TriCom, I even suggested a registration of all content creators to avoid this kind of fake news,” Castro said.

Speaking with Palace reporters, newly appointed PCO Secretary Jay Ruiz committed to fighting disinformation and disseminating to the public the projects of the Marcos administration.

''Kinakailangan din po nating labanan ang fake news lalong-lalo na ang kasinungalingan kasi 'yun ang nakakasama sa atin. Bawal ang sinungaling, siyempre maraming nagpapakalat ng fake news ngayon, lalabanan po natin 'yan,'' Ruiz said.

(We need to fight fake news especially lies because this only harms us. Liars are not allowed, especially right now, as a lot of people are spreading fake news. We will fight disinformation.)

The new PCO chief also warned vloggers that they have the responsibility to tell the truth to the public. –NB, GMA Integrated News
