EDSA Revolution a reminder of accountability, says multi-sectoral group

As the country marks the 39th anniversary of the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution on February 25, a multi-sectoral group underscored the need to hold public officials accountable and prevent historical revisionism.

TAMA NA or the Taumbayan Ayaw sa Magnanakaw at Abusado Network Alliance called for unity among groups with similar advocacy for accountability, justice, and good governance.

"Dapat gunitain ang Edsa People Power I para hindi makalimutan ang kasaysayan at nang maikonekta rin ito sa kasalukuyan (We must relive the EDSA spirit so we won't forget about history, and to link the past to the present.)

TAMA NA said pressing issues are hounding the Filipinos that must be addressed such as the alleged misuse of public funds, and rising prices.

"Ang pera ng bayan ay para sa mamamayan. Hindi ito dapat napupunta sa bulsa ng mga tiwaling opisyal," the group said.

The group also pushed for the immediate trial of Duterte.—Sherylin Untalan/LDF, GMA Integrated News
