Anne Curtis backs Diokno-led Akbayan party-list

Actress Anne Curtis-Smith has backed the 2025 election bid of Akbayan party-list led by its first nominee, human rights lawyer Chel Diokno.

The "It's Showtime" host's expression of support was posted Friday on her account on X (formerly Twitter) as she responded to a video post by Akbayan.

In the video, Diokno greeted her belated happy birthday and thanked her for retweeting his electoral messages.

She said, "Maraming salamat po, sir Chel Diokno. Let's go, Akbayan Party!"

Diokno said in his video message: "Happy belated birthday, Anne! Sana ang birthday mo ay maging ANNEkabogable."

"Salamat sa pag-retweet ng tatlong beses sa ating kampanya. Mag-Akbayan po tayo. Kapag mahal mo, Akbayan mo!" Diokno said.

According to a statement Friday by Akbayan, Diokno's voice was featured as a voice-over in the trailer for "BuyBust", Curtis-Smith's action film in 2018.

It premiered at the New York Asian Film Festival on June 29, 2018, and was later released in the Philippines on August 1, 2018.

The 2025 elections is Diokno's first foray in the party-list race. He ran for the Senate in Eleksyon 2019 and Eleksyon 2022, but lost both bids.
