OCTA: 36% of Pinoys support Marcos, 18% for Dutertes

More adult Filipinos have expressed their support for the Marcos administration over the Dutertes and their political alliance, while a sizable group said they support neither one of them.
According to a recent Tugon ng Masa (TNM) survey by OCTA Research, 36% of adult Filipinos were supporters of the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., while only 18% said that they were pro-Duterte.
A total of 26% of the survey respondents, meanwhile, said they supported neither, while 12% refused to answer the question or didn't know what to answer.
Eight percent on the other hand said they support the opposition.
The figures for Marcos and Duterte supporters are considered statistically unchanged from the 3rd Quarter TNM survey last August 2024 given the margin of error. However, it was noted that the number of Marcos supporters have dropped 2 points from the August 2024 report, while the support for Duterte increased 3 points.
There was also a noted significant increase in pro-Duterte supporters from Class E, from 21% in the last survey to 41% in the current survey.
“This surge indicates a strong resurgence of pro-Duterte support in the first quarter of 2025, reversing the previously observed downward trend,” the survey read.
OCTA Research clarified that data used in the survey were newly gathered ones, and that they did not have a fourth quarter survey on the same topic.
“Walang 4th quarter [survey]. (There is no 4th quarter [survey].)The survey is first quarter 2025. It's new, and the last one was made in the 3rd quarter of 2024,” said OCTA Research President Professor Ranjit Rye.
Opposition
Meanwhile, 8% of the respondents stated they supported the opposition, statistically unchanged from the previous survey due to the margin of error. However, a 1-point increase from the previous survey was observed.
“It is important to note that respondents were provided examples of traditional opposition figures and groups, such as former VP Leni Robredo, the Liberal Party, and the movements they represent,” the OCTA Research said.
Data from the survey were gathered through face-to-face interviews of 1,200 respondents aged 18 and above nationwide, conducted from January 25 to 31, 2025.
The survey has a ±3% margin of error at a 95% confidence level.
"Subnational estimates for the geographic areas covered in the survey have the following margins of error at a 95% confidence level: ±6% for Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao," OCTA Research said. —KG/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
