Lawyer files disqualification case vs. Tulfos running in Eleksyon 2025

A lawyer has filed a disqualification case against the members of the Tulfo family running for elective posts in Eleksyon 2025.
In a 19-page petition before the Commission on Elections, Atty. Virgilio Garcia asked the Comelec to disqualify ACT-CIS Rep. Erwin Tulfo and broadcast journalist Ben Tulfo, who are both running for the Senate; ACT-CIS Rep. Jocelyn Pua-Tulfo and Quezon City Rep. Ralph Tulfo, who are eyeing a return to the House of Representatives; and former Tourism Secretary Wanda Tulfo Teo, the nominee of the Turismo party-list.
Erwin, Ben and Wanda are siblings, while Jocelyn and Ralph are the wife and son respectively of another Tulfo sibling, Raffy, who is an incumbent Senator.
Garcia in his petition said the Tulfos constituted a political dynasty which is prohibited under the 1987 Constitution, and were not natural-born Filipinos.
GMA News Online has sought comments from the Tulfos and will publish them as soon as they are available.
According to Erwin’s staff, the Congressman has yet to receive the complaint against him and his family.
When asked about another Tulfo at the Senate, Erwin said, “As long as there is no law yet, we let the people decide.”
“All of us are always pro-poor, yung plataporma lagi namin pero [that is always our platform but] this time we have marching orders from the administration to continue the programs ng pamahalaan [like] poverty alleviation,” Erwin said during his filing of senatorial candidacy.
Meanwhile, Ben said if all Tulfos secured a seat at the Senate, he would work independently, and voting as a block with his brothers would depend on the issue. — NB, GMA Integrated News
