LTFRB to hear petition for P15 jeepney minimum fare on Feb. 19

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has set a date to hear a pending petition to increase the minimum fare for jeepneys to P15.
“'Yung pending [petition], may hearing kami sa February 19, 2025... Ito 'yung pending pa noong 2023, kung saan nagbigay lang ang Board ng provisional increase,” LTFRB technical division head Joel Bolano said in an interview on Super Radyo dzBB on Saturday.
(On the pending petition, we have set a hearing on February 19, 2025… This is the one pending since 2023, wherein the Board only granted a provisional increase.)
“Ang petisyon ay gawing P15 ang minimum fare mula sa kasalukuyang P13,” Bolano said.
(The petition was to increase the minimum fare to P15 from the current P13.)
In October 2023, the LTFRB approved a P1 provisional increase in the minimum fare for public utility jeepneys, adjusting the fare from P12 to P13 for traditional jeepneys and from P14 to P15 for modern jeepneys.
Last month, the LTFRB said it is reviewing the petition to increase the minimum fare as various transport groups made a petition for an increase.
“The LTFRB is reviewing the petition thoroughly and will consider all relevant factors, including fuel price trends, inflation rates, and the overall economic impact on the riding public,” the agency said.
However, the public land transport regulator added that it also has to consider the possible impact of the requested minimum fare hike on commuters.
