PDP Laban condemns House for 'railroading' Sara’s impeachment

The Partido Demokratiko Pilipino Lakas ng Bayan (PDP Laban) condemned the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte, adding that the process was “railroaded.”

The PDP Laban, in a statement, "expresses its extreme disgust and condemnation over the railroaded and sham impeachment by the House of Representatives of Vice President Sara Duterte, less than halfway into a 6-year term where she received 32.2 million votes, the most votes cast for a candidate in the history of the Philippines."

“It is the clearest manifestation of dirty politics in the country, an affront to the sovereign will of the Filipino people, and reckless abuse of power."

The political party added that the "railroading of the impeachment against the Vice President was executed with precision by desperate members of the House of Representatives to distract from the worsening situation of the country.”

“Through this railroaded impeachment complaint, they wish to sweep under the rug the unprecedented scandals that has enraged the public. They also with to destroy the chances of VP Sara Duterte in seeking a higher office in 2028,” it continued.

PDP Laban said Duterte still held support from the majority of the Filipinos, and called for the House to focus on “the worsening peace and order, graft and corruption, and poverty.”

“The President himself has told the House of Representatives to halt the impeachment complaint and address the problems facing ordinary Filipinos. Why not address the growing discontent and frustration across the country resulting from the worsening peace and order, graft and corruption, and poverty?” the statement continued.

The group urged Filipinos to cast their votes wisely in the 2025 National Elections as Duterte’s fate was on the line, and claimed that it would be better for the Philippines if she had more allies in the Senate.

Vice President Sara Duterte was impeached by the House of Representatives "based on the grounds of Culpable Violation of the Constitution, Betrayal of Public Trust, Graft and Corruption, and Other High Crimes” on Wednesday after a verified complaint against her was endorsed by 215 congressmen.
