Over 10 million ballots printed so far for Eleksyon 2025 —Comelec

Over 10 million ballots printed so far for Eleksyon 2025 —Comelec

Nearly 14% or more than 10 million official ballots for the 2025 national and local elections (NLE) have been printed so far, according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Data shared with reporters showed that as of Monday, February 3, the poll body printed 10,051,712 official ballots, still far from the over 72 million ballot requirements for the upcoming midterm elections. A total of 62,055,708 remains to be printed.

The poll body resumed printing the official ballots on January 27, weeks after it was suspended after the Supreme Court (SC) issued temporary restraining orders against the disqualification of some aspirants.

Comelec chairperson George Erwin Garcia previously said they are targeting to print 1.5 million ballots daily to make up for the shortened time frame for the production of official ballots. He also expressed confidence they will be able to complete the printing process by April 14, 2025.

“Kung sakali, kahit sana maka-1.5 million balota a day kung gamit ang mga machines ng NPO at dalawang bago nating machines. Sana po. Kaya hindi kami umaalis sa deadline namin na April 14,” Garcia said.

Last month, the poll agency deputized National Printing Office (NPO), allowing the use of four of its printing machines and two machines procured by South Korean firm Miru Systems Inc., to ensure the “proper, satisfactory, and timely” completion of the printing of the official ballots for the May polls. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
